The taming of the shrew
The Taming of the Shrew is a Shakespearean classic. In it many different themes are touched on but the main one in the story is the battle between the sexes. In it a woman named Katherina is married off to a man she does not love named Pertruchio. He marries her for the dowry her father Baptista pays. The father is willing to do this because her younger sister Bianca has many suitors and the father believes it is inappropriate for the younger sister to be married but for the older one to remain a maid. Katherine can't get a husband because she is very strong willed and so she practically runs off any potential suitors. Over the course of the play Pertruchio sets out to tame Katherina of her shrewish ways.
